Annual Flower Shows

CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow has been organizing the Annual Chrysanthemum and Coleus and Annual Rose and Gladiolus Shows for more than five decades. Recently, the institute has started organizing the Bougainvillea Festival also. These shows are open to all Government, Semi-Government, Private institutions, and individuals.

Main Objectives of Annual Flower Shows:

  • Create social awareness and interest in the cultivation of ornamental plants.
  • Provide a common platform for interaction among flower growers, progressive farmers, connoisseurs, researchers, and buyers about quality plant material.
  • Educate people about conservation, propagation, development of new ornamental cultivars, and disease and pest management of ornamental plants.
  • Showcasing of CSIR-NBRI’s R&D activities in a special pavilion.

Chrysanthemum and Coleus Show

This show is organized in the first fortnight of December every year. This two-day event showcases a stunning array of chrysanthemum and coleus plants, featuring various colors, shapes, and sizes.


Rose and Gladiolus Show

The Rose and Gladiolus Show is another annual event hosted by CSIR-NBRI in the second fortnight of January. This two-day show showcases a stunning collection of roses and gladioli, highlighting their diverse colors, fragrances, and forms.


Bougainvillea Festival

The Bougainvillea Festival is another annual event hosted by CSIR-NBRI in the summer season. This vibrant festival showcases the beauty and diversity of bougainvillea plants, which are known for their colorful bracts that surround the actual flowers.
